Some thoughts from David...

For me, photography is more a medium for sharing my vision of nature with others than an end in itself. The natural world captured my attention long before I knew anything about cameras.

Even now, after many years behind the camera, my fascination with the subject, and the experience of being in wild places and among wild things, far outweighs my interest in photography alone.

I hope that my images not only convey some of my passion for the natural world, but that they also serve as a point of connection to that world for the viewer as well.

About fifty years ago the naturalist Aldo Leopold wrote: "There are some who can live without wild things, and some who cannot."* Perhaps a different reality, however, exists for us today.  I suspect that none of us can live without wild things and that there are only those who think that they can.

Learning to coexist with nature is not only about ensuring that animals and plants have a place to live; it is also about preserving a future for ourselves.
